In this study, 3P Instruments presents the adsorption of noble gases such as Ar, Kr and Xe, of non-polar molecules like CH4 and SF6, and of non-spherical molecules like N2, O2, H2, Co2 or n-butane on different adsorbates. In accordance with ISO 9277 and the IUPAC-recommendation of 2015, it is shown that particularly ar 87 K and Kr 120 K results are scientifically more exact for measuring specific surface areas and micropores as compared to frequently used N2 77 K. The measurements were carried out using the cryoTune series – a temperature controller for almost all volumetric gas adsorption analyzers that uses low-cost liquid nitrogen for cooling during all the adsorption measurements.
